* If the loser didn't score any points during the match, he gets zero classification points. If he did score points during the match, he gets one classification point. This only becomes important when you're trying to figure out who got what place.
When you are working as a scorekeeper at matside, you don't need to worry about this at all. You just have to circle the winner, cross out the loser, and add up the points (if it's not a fall). The folks back in the pairing room keep track of all the rest.
The first bout sheet we receive says that Alan beat Bob by a score of 8-2. We fill in the pairing chart like this:
For the winner, the score of the match goes in the lower left of the result area and the classification points go in the right half of the result area.
For the loser, the score of the match in reverse goes in the lower left of the result area, and he gets an X in the right half of the result area.
