I've always enjoyed artwork made from glass, and I got lucky on this trip. The Smithsonian Institution's Renwick Gallery was showing an exhibition entitled Glass, Glorious Glass through 30 January 2000. The following pages show some of the pieces on exhibit.

Vase #65-78
Sideny R. Hutter

Ruby Wet Foot Mongo with Kissing Serpents and Lily Pond
Fritz Dreisbach

Venetian Waldglass Fish Goblet
Richard Marquis

Expanded Reality
Jon Kuhn

Teapot Goblets
Richard Marquis

Inventing the Music of Beauty
Ginny Ruffner

A note about the first picture on the page: the vase is composed of separate stacked levels of glass. The vase has no continuous outside or inside, and thus cannot hold any contents.
