I've spent most of the weekend working on an article about Dynamic HTML, the Document Object Model, and web standards. Let me tell you, it has been a frustrating weekend. I know what I want to say -- I have the basic information; I just can't seem to find the hook to put it together in a clear, concise way.
I spent a lot of time on three pages; the JavaScript for one of them took me about an hour to write and test. Unfortunately, the pages didn't really advance the plot. The bad news is that I still tried to salvage them (twice) because I wasn't willing to give up the time I'd invested. The good news is that I finally wised up, recognized a lost cause when I saw it, and trashed the pages.
In any case, I shall continue to work on the article as time permits, and I will certainly let you all know when it's ready.
And now, the silly question of the fortnight:
Do professional writers go through this sort of angst all the time?
