Home Page Commentary 13 February 2000 (A Change of Pace) |
Are you tired of all the Internet frenzy and hype, those chat rooms, the oh-so-slick corporate websites, and the information-packed portals? Wouldn't it be nice if you could just go to some part of the web where you could just relax and enjoy things?
Well, it does exist, and I recommend that you take a break for a half hour or so and just browse through personal web pages that people have put on the web. I went to GeoCities, but there are lots of other places, such as Xoom, Juno, and Angelfire. These sites, for the most part, aren't built by marketing masterminds or techno-nerds. Instead, you get to see web pages from people whose goal is to say, Here's who I am, and here's what I'm interested in.
Go ahead; read some of these pages. It's a very refreshing change of pace, and it's good to remember that the web -- and the world -- is all about people. Why don't you click away from this page now, relax, and enjoy the truly immense variety that's available on the web.
Afterwards, please do come back and let me know what you think.
