Very, Very Briefly Noted

Iraq

• Saddam Hussein lost.
• He signed an agreement to end the war.
• He hasn't lived up to his agreement.
• As far as I'm concerned, that means the U.N. calls the shots.

The McCaughey Septuplets

• I'm glad the babies are doing well.
• I'm glad the mother is doing well.
• It beats me entirely to see why "McCaughey" should be pronounced as "McCoy."
• What a logistical nightmare.
• What a financial nightmare.

The Asian Economies

• South Korea needs a multi-billion dollar bailout.
• Their currency is headed downwards
• One of Japan's biggest brokerage firms is on the brink of closing.
• Japan's banks could easily get the cash by liquidating their holdings in U.S. Treasury bonds.
• That's not a very pleasant thought.
• Why does the world economy remind me too much of a house of cards?
