Cats and Kooks

As of two weeks ago, I became the owner of a new cat, a calico longhaired female named Rainbow. She's over 15 years old. Her previous owner hadn't had the time to take her to the vet, and her hair was matted into dreadlocks.

I offered to take her to the vet, and also said I would be willing to take her home. She's now living in the bedroom. She and Tabitha (the cat I've had for the past eight years) are now in a state of "armed truce". Rainbow isn't openly hostile, but Tabitha growls, bares her teeth, and hisses when Rainbow enters her territory. There's no open hostility, and I suppose it will take some time for them to work it out with one another.

You may or may not know of Reverend Fred Phelps of Topeka, Kansas: the guy who pickets funerals of people who have died of AIDS with signs saying "God hates fags."

Well, due to pressure on his Internet service provider, his site, http://www.godhatesfags.com has been cancelled. [I have put the link there in case he finds another service provider.]

I would call this man vermin, but he is worse -- vermin, being animals, don't know any better. Rev. Phelps should. In any case, I am sorry that his site is gone. His views need to be exposed to the light of publicity so that people can see how ridiculous his anti-gay stance is. The more you push his hate-filled views underground, the more they will fester.

In the absence of Rev. Phelps' site, if you want to see the definition of "hate-filled bozo" in action, http://revwhite.bestsites.net/ will do quite nicely. Some of the links don't work because they have been mistyped. You'd think that, if this was so important to him, he'd at least have spent a few minutes to check that his site was linked correctly.
