Parade banner These pictures were taken in San Francisco, California, USA, on 27 June 1999 at the San Francisco Gay Pride Parade (officially known as the “San Francisco Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Pride Parade.”

Photographic note: All the pictures on these pages were taken with the Olympus C2000Z digital camera. Some of these pictures were taken at a resolution of 1600 x 1200, but I switched the camera down to a resolution of 1024 x 768 so that I could get more pictures onto each 8 MB chip. I did this because I didn't want to miss parts of the parade by having to switch memory chips frequently. The original pictures aren't on this site because they would run over my disk space limit.

Techie note: All of the pictures were reduced in size using the GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) on Linux.

The parade was led off, as usual, by the Women's Motorcycle Contingent (yes, that is its official name).

...and I suppose you could call this the Women's Bicycle Contingent. All in all, it took about seven minutes for all the motorcycles and bicycles to pass by.

There were also men on bicycles; this one happened to stand out from the crowd.
